Structural

  • Education

    We have extensive experience working in the education sector, from the development of cutting-edge facilities to the design and build of entire educational establishments. At Haltec, we understand the importance of minimising disruption to the student community and work hard to ensure projects are fulfilled within client’s desired timeframe, without compromising on quality. Haltec has built longstanding relationships with clients in this sector such as Coleg Cambria and Flintshire County Council spanning over 20 years. We have been the lead design engineer on BIM level 2 schemes since 2012. 



    Our recent educational projects include:


    Ysgol Penyffordd – a brand new, 315-pupil primary school in North Wales


    Glasdir School, Ruthin – a £10.5m project to combine two old schools in a brand-new building


    Northop Management Centre – a new, state-of-the-art facility for Cambria Business School


    Coleg Cambria – a £20m project to redevelop the Yale Campus including a 200-seat conference hall and sports facilities

  • Industrial / Commercial

    Through working with a number of commercial clients on varying scales we have amassed a broad range of experience throughout industrial and commercial projects. We ensure that projects are undertaken to meet all safety and commercial requirements efficiently and effectively to minimise disruption to existing operations. 


    Our recent commercial projects include:


    Wrexham People’s Market – refurbishment of market stalls and conversion of part of the premises into a new arts centre.


    Wrexham Mineral Cables – construction of a new production facility for a heavy industry manufacturer.


    Cambridge Airport – working within an existing hanger to create a new spray booth capable of taking a jumbo jet.


    Chester Zoo Maintenance Facility – creation of a brand new, purpose-built unit to house equipment and workshops.

  • Agriculture

    Our agricultural projects include:


    Brookside Farm – the creation of a brand new, state of the art automated milking facility that can handle 600 cows for each milking session.


    Old Castle Mill, Malpas – conversion of former watermill and other estate buildings for residential use.


    Carden Park – sympathetic barn conversion into residential buildings while retaining the look and feel of the properties.


    White Moss – building of a new green waste recycling facility to process garden waste into compost.

  • Airbus

    Our close ties to industrial and production facilities can be illustrated through our close partnership with Airbus. This has extended over 25 years, yielding close to 1000 projects completed, ranging from small schemes to developing cutting edge aircraft production lines. 



    Our projects with Airbus include:


    Wing skin and creep facility – detailed structural specification and foundation design for this major aircraft wing manufacturing unit.


    Flow line refurbishment – removal of existing equipment and creation of a new flow line and two storey offices.


    Manufacturing facilities – foundation design for factory units carrying significant loads during aircraft manufacture.


    Maintenance surveys – providing and analysing structural surveys to design programmes for facility maintenance.

  • Health Authority

    Haltec’s reliable, efficient approach to projects was exemplified whilst supporting authorities in their rapid adaptation to the unpredictable global COVID-19 situation. Our ongoing support across numerous regions to projects avoided delays to projects whilst also ensuring vital work could be done to critical infrastructure to best prepare health authorities to tackle the pandemic. 


    Our recent health authority projects include:


    Ruthin Community Hospital – car park infrastructure design including foundations and drainage.


    Caia Park, Wrexham – creating a multi-use medical facility including GPs, nurses and dental services in a single unit.


    Chirk Medical Centre - new facility.


    Hope Family Medical Centre - new GP practice.

  • Residential

    Our extensive experience completing residential projects has included working with international developers to small scale private projects. Haltec can draw upon this experience to ensure that your residential project is completed using a considered approach which aims to tackle problems from the outset, minimising the risk of delays to your project. 


    Our recent residential projects include:


    Palatine Road, Didsbury – the creation of six residential blocks of apartments and townhouses covering everything from foundations to balcony design.


    Raby Mere – consultant engineers on a bespoke residence combining traditional oak beams with modern steel frame construction.


    Eaton Green, Tarporley – the creation of five executive residences on the site of a former public house.


    Minshull Court, Crosby – working with a major developer in the creation of a small development of detached homes.

    HM Stanley Hospital, St Asaph – civil engineering and external works, including Section 38 and 278 highway designs for an 83-home housing development.


    Wrexham Mineral Cables – road infrastructure and drainage design for major new manufacturing unit.


    Chester Zoo - road design to incorporate a new maintenance facility into the existing zoo infrastructure.

  • Conservation

    Thanks in part to our location in the historic Roman City of Chester, we hold a deep appreciation for the protection of heritage in construction. Our work in this field not only aims for effective conservation, but also ensures that we can integrate conservation to best enhance your vision for the project.   


    Some of our conservation projects include:

    HM Stanley Hospital, St Asaph – converting an historic former workhouse into bespoke residential apartments as part of a wider project on the site.


    Old Castle Mill, St Asaph – converting a 17th century watermill into a high specification residence, while retaining its traditional charm.


    Chester Royal Infirmary – restoring and converting the original 18th century, Grade II listed hospital buildings to create luxury residential apartments


    Nantlys Hall, Bodfari – renovating and repurposing a neglected 19th century, Grade II listed mansion including the installation of a swimming pool.
